Free hygiene courses and documents — coming shortly

We are preparing a free set of hygiene documents and short courses — three of each. They are not available yet. There is nothing to download or enrol in on this page today.

Organisations worth knowing

These are organisations we find useful and refer to in our own work. None of them is affiliated with us, and none has approved, accredited or endorsed our courses. We link to them because employers ask where to go, not because we have any relationship with them.

Where the law comes from

  • The Department of Employment and Labour — administers the Occupational Health and Safety Act, runs the inspectorate, and publishes the regulations and codes made under it.
  • The Compensation Fund — occupational injuries and diseases: employer registration, annual returns, Letters of Good Standing and injury-on-duty claims.

Standards and specifications

  • The South African Bureau of Standards — publishes the SANS standards that many health and safety requirements refer to.
  • The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications — compulsory specifications for regulated products and installations.

Professional bodies

Emergency and public health

  • Your provincial Department of Health — occupational and public-health matters, including communicable disease.

Our own courses

Our five health and safety courses are on the Courses page. What they are — and what they are not — is set out on What we do and what we do not do.
