Safety Toolbox is a South African occupational health and safety business. We sell short online safety courses, health and safety document templates, and consulting and ad hoc support to employers who have to comply with the law and do not have a full-time safety function.
This page is about the edges of that — what we do, what we take responsibility for, and what we do not do. We would rather you knew before you bought than afterwards.
What we do

- Health and safety document templates. Policies, procedures, registers and forms, written for South African law and built to be adapted to your workplace.
- Consulting and ad hoc support. From a single question to a full compliance baseline.
What we are responsible for
We are responsible for our training being right. The content being accurate, current, and correctly built. Every course carries a version and a date, and when the law or a standard changes we update it and record what changed.
If you find something in a course that is wrong, tell us. We will fix it, and we will tell you what we changed.
What we do NOT do
1. We are not an accredited training provider.
We hold no accreditation from any SETA, from the QCTO, from SAQA, from any professional body, or from any international body. No such body has approved, accredited or endorsed our courses. If you need accredited or unit-standard-aligned training to satisfy a legal requirement, a tender or a client audit, we are not the provider for that requirement — and we will tell you so rather than sell you a course that will not do the job.
2. Completing a course does not make anyone competent.
Our courses build knowledge and awareness. A completion certificate records that a person finished the course. It is not a declaration that they are competent, and it does not appoint them to anything. Deciding whether a person is competent for a task, and appointing them, is the employer's decision and the employer's responsibility. That is how the Occupational Health and Safety Act works, and nothing we sell changes it.
3. We do not hold your statutory appointments.
We will not sign as your appointed assignee, as a health and safety representative, or as a member of your health and safety committee. Those appointments belong to people inside your organisation, and the law puts them there deliberately.
4. We are not attorneys and we do not give legal advice.
We do not represent anyone in legal proceedings. Where an inspector visits, we support you with the technical questions and with your documents — that is not legal representation, and where a question is a legal one we will say so and tell you to take legal advice.
5. Our assessments are documentary, and they are delivered remotely.
We review what you have — your documents, appointments, registers and systems — and tell you what is missing. We do not conduct physical site inspections, occupational hygiene measurement or medical surveillance. We are not an approved inspection authority. Where a risk assessment needs someone to walk the floor, we facilitate it and your own people do the walking.
6. We do not issue Letters of Good Standing.
Only the Compensation Fund does. We can help you prepare and submit the application, and chase it.
7. Our documents are templates.
They are a considered starting point, not a finished compliance system. They are written to be adapted to your workplace, your risks and your people. Adopting one unchanged is your decision, not our recommendation.
8. We do not replace your own risk assessment.
Nothing we sell — no course, no document, no report — relieves an employer of the duty to assess its own risks and act on them.
